all hearts for this little girls’ bedroom

My friend Monica recently sold her home and moved her family of 5 into a rental home. She called me and asked if I would help her make it feel more like “their home” instead of the owners’. Well, of course I said yes and accepted the challenge. Rentals can be difficult to design because you can’t make any permanent changes without permission. Working with a tight budget, we tried to focus on simple, cost effective, & temporary updates.

Starting with the girls’ room, she had her “heart” set on decals. Not only are they temporary, but easy to install and make a big impact. I found these gold hearts from Urban Walls and was able to install them in about 4 hours. While I was busy putting the hearts up, I had Monica paint an accent wall in Benjamin Moore “Queen Anne Pink”. Again, we wanted big impact but minimal commitment. She can easily paint the wall white when they decide to move out.

We then took a trip to Hobby Lobby where we found the wall art. The horse print caught my eye (and also the eyes of Eva, Monica’s 8 year old). We also found a wooden sign from one of my favorites Jaxn Blvd that fit beautifully within our color palette of white, pink, gold, & turquoise.

One more shopping trip (this time to IKEA) and we were done!

What a fun transformation! The girls are very excited about their new room and Monica is both relieved and anxious for the next project. Stay tuned for the remainder of this rental transformation.

Eva + Stella love their new room!
