Reese Marie

Nurseries have recently become my favorite rooms to design because they are so fun to create! That’s why when my client contacted me to help her design her third child’s nursery (and first girl!) I was so excited!

She wanted a mix of tribal and bohemian with a touch of whimsy all while keeping it sweet and soft. She also wanted a color palette of corals, pinks and neutral tones. I got to work putting together an inspiration board to show her and her husband to make sure I had captured the direction for the room.

Once they approved the inspiration board, we started shopping! I like to start by selecting the biggest furniture pieces first since they are typically harder to find than the smaller accessories. So since my client already had a crib and glider (that she used with her two sons) the first two purchases were the dresser and the rug.

To save money and maximize storage, we found this double wide dresser at IKEA which doubles as a changing table. I love finding pieces that serve dual purposes especially for small spaces.

The rug is from Cost Plus World Market and it is in a gorgeous blush floral which really sets the tone for the room.

Next, we set up the crib and found this great poodle print bedding from The Land of Nod. Isn’t it fun? It adds the perfect whimsical touch to the room.

Then since all the larger pieces were set, we moved on to the accessories. We accented the room with gold and bronze tones by mixing metals. Notice how the bronze lamps mix so well with the touches of gold around the room.

The final (and favorite) accessory we found was this gorgeous dream catcher mobile that hangs so delicately over the crib. We found it on Etsy and it was made by “The Dream Barn.” With it’s soft peach and pink feathers dipped in gold, it definitely completes the room.

I love the way this nursery turned out! The whole design process was so fun thanks so my wonderful clients. I think together we really captured the perfect room for baby Reese.
